AI document Q&A chat has been available on single files, web links and channels in Peony since March 21, 2026, on the Business plan and above: it answers questions from the shared files with citations. Chat history arrived on March 18, 2026, and chats have persisted across sessions since March 31, 2026.

## What does it do?

AI document Q&A answers questions from the files you share, with citations back to the source. This update made the chat available wherever content lives in Peony, on a single file, a web link or a channel, and kept each conversation so it can be picked up later.

## Who is it for?

Admins checking their own room before sharing it, and visitors (when allowed) who want to find a number or clause without reading every page.

## How does it work?

- **Streaming answers with visible reasoning** (February 20, 2026).
- **Chat history** for admins and recipients (March 18, 2026).
- **AI chat for files, web links and channels** (March 21, 2026).
- **One persistent chat history** across sessions (March 31, 2026).
- **AI credit purchases** when a workspace needs more than its plan's allowance (May 25, 2026).

AI features run on credits: document processing on upload and each question use credits.

## Which plans include it?

AI document Q&A is on Business and above, with 1x credits on Business, 5x on Data Room, 10x on Deal Team and a custom amount on Enterprise. AI features are not part of the free trial. See [pricing](https://www.peony.ink/pricing).

## How does it compare?

General chat assistants can read documents you upload to them one by one. Peony's AI chat runs inside the data room, next to the files, access controls and analytics, and visitor access to it can be switched on or off per group.
