# Hide new content by default in Peony's virtual data room

'Hide new content by default' has been in Peony's virtual data room since September 25, 2026, on Deal Team and Enterprise: newly uploaded files and folders stay hidden from every sharing link until you grant access group by group.

## What does it do?

By default, a new file inherits access from every existing group, so everyone who can see the room sees it the moment it lands. **Hide new content by default** flips this: new files and folders stay hidden from every sharing link until you grant access in **Permissions**.

## Who is it for?

Teams that release documents in stages, such as phase-two diligence material, or that upload in bulk and review before anyone sees it.

## How does it work?

1. Open the data room's **Settings** tab.
2. Turn on **Hide new content by default**.
3. Upload, then grant View or Download per group in **Permissions** when ready.
