What does it do?
Visitors with upload permission can add files to a data room folder. Their uploads land in the folder you chose, with the same tracking as the rest of the room.
Who is it for?
Teams that need documents back from the other side: a lender collecting borrower files, an advisor collecting buyer mark-ups, or an accountant collecting client records.
How does it work?
Upload is one of the four permission levels in granular access control: No access, View, Download and Upload. Give a group Upload on a folder and its visitors see an upload button there. On March 25, 2026, allow and deny upload became separate link settings. On June 4, 2026, visitors gained multi-file and folder upload, including merging into existing folders, still limited to the folders their permissions allow.
Which plans include it?
The Upload permission level is part of granular permissions, included on Data Room, Deal Team and Enterprise. See pricing.
How does it compare?
Two-way data rooms are standard in larger virtual data room products. Peony applies the same per-folder permission table to uploads and views, so collection does not need a separate tool.
