Vendors that list in another currency are converted for comparison. Vendor list prices are shown in the currency each vendor publishes. Everything here is based on public information or extrapolated from it — estimated rows name their sources, estimates are not quotes, and rows beyond a vendor's published tiers are extrapolations from that vendor's own published material.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a virtual data room cost?

Published self-serve pricing runs from about $99–600 per month for flat-rate tools up to $395–1,508 per month for capacity-tiered rooms. Quote-only enterprise VDRs like Datasite and Intralinks are reported at $10,000 to $200,000+ per year, usually billed per page. Peony is $30–64 per admin per month billed annually, with unlimited free viewers.

How is the estimate calculated?

For vendors that publish pricing, we apply their published tiers, seat rules, and billing discounts to your inputs, using list prices last verified August 27, 2026. For quote-only vendors we show ranges drawn from independent pricing research, converting per-page rates at the common industry figure of roughly 10,000 pages per gigabyte.

Why are some rows marked as estimates?

Twelve of the vendors here publish no pricing at all. For those, the calculator shows ranges built from named third-party sources — Capterra listings, Vendr contract data, and data-room research sites — with the source stated on each row. Where a configuration goes beyond a vendor's published tiers, the row shows a range extrapolated from that vendor's own published material (a higher-tier floor or per-GB rate) and is labelled as an estimate.

Does a cheaper data room mean fewer features?

At the entry tiers, usually yes — and the gap is specific. Five of the cheapest published tiers (DocSend Advanced Data Rooms, Drooms Professional, Papermark Data Rooms, Digify Pro, Fordata LITE) include no Q&A module at their advertised price, and six meter storage, rooms, or seats. Peony's $52/admin/month Data Room plan includes Q&A, dynamic watermarking, Advanced NDA with countersigning, granular permissions with audit trail, auto-indexing, custom domain, and AI document Q&A, with no metering on rooms, documents, storage, file size, or viewers.

What is the cheapest full-featured virtual data room?

Among vendors that publish pricing, Peony's Data Room plan at $52/admin/month billed annually ($624 per admin per year) is the lowest published price that combines Q&A, dynamic watermarking, Advanced NDA with countersigning, granular permissions with a full audit trail, auto-indexing, a custom domain, and AI document Q&A without capping rooms, documents, storage, or viewers. Cheaper published tiers exist — Drooms Professional at €44/month, Papermark at €99/month — but each caps capacity, omits Q&A, or both.

What does Peony not include?

Advanced Redaction, the Advanced Q&A module, API access, and OAuth SSO require the Deal Team plan at $64/admin/month with a 4-admin minimum. SAML SSO, BYOK, custom data residency, and self-hosted deployment are Enterprise-only and quoted rather than published. The Business plan at $30/admin/month is capped at 1,000 documents, 3 rooms per admin, and 50 GB of storage.

Are these numbers quotes?

No. They are estimates from public list prices and third-party research, and vendors routinely discount from list. Peony's own prices are exact; confirm competitor figures with the vendor before budgeting.
