Dynamic watermarks in Peony's virtual data room

Dynamic watermarks have been in Peony's virtual data room since January 23, 2026, on the Data Room plan and above: documents, images and video show a watermark with tiling, rotation and custom colour. Since January 26, 2026, the watermark can include variables such as the viewer's email address.

Data Room, Deal Team and Enterprise
For
M&A advisors, Private equity, Founders raising capital, Legal teams

What does it do?

A dynamic watermark overlays text on every page, image or video frame a visitor sees. With variables, the text is personal to the viewer, such as their email address and the time of viewing, which discourages screenshots and makes a leaked copy traceable.

Who is it for?

Anyone sharing confidential material with many outside readers: CIMs and financial models in M&A, pitch materials in a fundraise, or legal documents under review.

How does it work?

  1. Turn on watermarks in the link or data room security settings.
  2. Choose the text, including variables such as the viewer's email.
  3. Set tiling, position, rotation, size, colour and opacity.

The watermark is applied when the file is viewed, so you never upload a separate watermarked copy.

Which plans include it?

Data Room, Deal Team and Enterprise. See pricing.

How does it compare?

Dynamic watermarks are a common data room control. Peony applies them to images and video as well as documents.

Does Peony's data room support dynamic watermarks?

Yes. On the Data Room plan and above, Peony adds a watermark to documents, images and video at view time, and it can include the viewer's email address so any copy is traceable.
