What does it do?
By default, a new file inherits access from every existing group, so everyone who can see the room sees it the moment it lands. Hide new content by default flips this: new files and folders stay hidden from every sharing link until you grant access in Permissions.
Who is it for?
Teams that release documents in stages, such as phase-two diligence material, or that upload in bulk and review before anyone sees it.
How does it work?
- Open the data room's Settings tab.
- Turn on Hide new content by default.
- Upload, then grant View or Download per group in Permissions when ready.
Which plans include it?
Deal Team ($64 per admin per month billed annually, $89 billed monthly, minimum 4 admins) and Enterprise. It builds on granular permissions, which start on Data Room. See pricing.
How does it compare?
Staged disclosure is common in M&A processes. A hidden-by-default mode avoids exposing a file between upload and permission review.

Common questions
Can Peony keep new uploads hidden until I approve them?
Yes. On Deal Team and Enterprise, turning on Hide new content by default keeps new files and folders hidden from every link until you grant access in Permissions. Existing files keep their permissions.
