Duplicate a Data Room
Copy a Peony data room's files and folders into a fresh room — to reuse a structure for the next deal, or to launch with clean analytics after internal testing. Step by step, plus what the copy includes.

Duplicating copies every file and folder in a room into a new one. Use it to:
- Reuse a structure for the next deal — the same folders and templates, a fresh set of visitors.
- Launch with clean analytics. If your team clicked through the room while testing, share a copy so visitor analytics and the audit trail start from zero.
Steps

Go to where the room lives (for example your team space or your private space).

Hover over the room and click its … icon in the top-right corner of the card, or right-click the room, then choose Duplicate. A Duplicating folder… notice appears. Larger rooms take longer — stay on the page until it finishes.

The copy appears next to the original as
<room name> (Copy). By default it is a regular folder, not a data room, as the label under its name shows. -
Open the copy's … menu and choose Convert to data room. See Convert a folder to a data room for the details.

Rename it from the same menu, then set up its Permissions: groups, links, NDA and security settings. See Share a data room link.
What the Copy Includes

Analytics and the audit trail are not copied. The copy starts with an empty analytics dashboard and an empty audit trail: none of the original room's visitor activity, views or downloads carry over, so you get a clean record from the day you share the copy.
Because links belong to groups, nobody who had the original room's link can open the copy until you share a new link.
Tips
- Testing before a launch? Build and test in one room, then duplicate it and share only the copy. Or test in a separate scratch room from the start.
- Keep the original until the copy is set up and checked.
Common Questions
How do I duplicate a data room?
Open the room's … menu, choose Duplicate, then open the copy's … menu and choose Convert to data room.
What does the copy include?
All files and folders. Sharing groups, links, and their security settings are not copied, and analytics and the audit trail start empty.

Can I download a whole room at the end of a deal?

A workspace runs one folder operation — duplicating or moving — at a time. Wait for any other copy or move to finish, then try again. Stay on the page while it runs.
