Upgrade, Downgrade, or Change Plan

Change plans any time from Settings → Billing. Upgrades are pro-rated and immediate. Downgrades apply at the end of the cycle.

Change your plan any time from Settings → Billing → Change Plan. Upgrades are immediate and pro-rated. Downgrades take effect at the end of your cycle. Your data rooms, files, links, and analytics are never deleted — only the feature set changes.

Upgrade

  1. Open Settings → Billing → Change Plan.
  2. Select Pro ($20/admin/mo) or Business ($40/admin/mo).
  3. Enter card (or use saved one).
  4. Confirm the pro-rated charge preview and click Pay.

The charge is pro-rated for the rest of the current cycle. New features unlock within a few minutes.

Downgrade

  1. Open Settings → Billing → Change Plan.
  2. Select the lower tier.
  3. Confirm.

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current cycle. No partial refund for the unused portion.

What You Lose

Business → Pro:

  • Screenshot protection
  • NDA gates
  • AI Q&A
  • Custom domain (falls back to Peony subdomain)
  • Advanced analytics exports
  • Multi-level access gating

Pro → Free:

  • Dynamic watermarks
  • Page-level analytics
  • Email verification on links
  • Branded URLs
  • AI auto-indexing
  • Link expiry

Your data rooms stay accessible either way. Links continue to resolve, but without the protections from the previous tier.

How Pro-Rating Works

Upgrading mid-cycle charges the difference between old and new plans, pro-rated for remaining days.

Example. Pro ($20/admin/mo), one admin. Day 10 of a 30-day cycle, you upgrade to Business ($40/admin/mo). Pro-rated charge is ~$13 (two-thirds of the $20 difference). Next cycle: full $40.

If Checkout Fails

Stripe checkout occasionally fails for some card/region combinations.

  1. Try a different card. Different bank is usually the fix.
  2. Still failing? Email sean@peony.ink or deqian@peony.ink with:
    • The plan you were upgrading to
    • What you saw (error, spinner, silent failure)
    • A screenshot if you have one
  3. You'll receive a direct Stripe invoice link that bypasses in-app checkout. Pay through that and your workspace auto-upgrades within a few minutes.

This is a known issue being fixed. The manual link workaround is reliable.

Cancel

  1. Open Settings → Billing → Cancel Plan.
  2. Confirm.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current cycle. You keep full access until that date.

At end of cycle:

  • Workspace moves to Free
  • Data rooms, files, links, and historical analytics stay
  • Business-tier features disabled

If You Were Charged After Cancelling

Known edge case with older subscriptions. Email sean@peony.ink with your account email and the charge date — it will be cancelled and refunded manually. Refunds appear within 5-10 business days.
