Invite Viewers and Track Who Opened
Invite viewers to a Peony data room, see who has opened it, and track per-page activity. Viewers are free and unlimited on every plan.

Add a viewer to a group's Participants tab and they get an email with a secure link. Viewers are free and unlimited on every plan — they do not count toward team seats.
How to Invite
In Email Access mode, add each viewer's email (or a bare domain) in the group's Participants tab, then hit Share Securely. Peony sends the invite immediately. Full walkthrough of access modes, group setup, and security controls: Permission & Security Settings.

See Who Has Opened
On the Participants list, each email shows an access status:
- Invited — email sent, not yet opened
- Accepted / Viewed — opened the room at least once
- Last activity — timestamp of most recent session
Status flips from Invited to Accepted the moment the viewer opens the link. No manual accept step.
Track Per-Page Activity
Open the Analytics tab for:
- Most Active Users by Duration — ranked list of every viewer by total time
- Per-viewer sessions — start time, dwell time, page order
- Page-level reads — which pages, how long
- Per-document views — which files each viewer opened
Filter by date range, drill into individual sessions. Useful for investor updates ("who read the growth section?"), sell-side deals ("which buyer spent time on the customer concentration slide?"), and consulting ("did the client read the appendix?").
Resend or Revoke
From the group's Participants list:
- Resend an invite
- Revoke access — remove the viewer from the list; their next click returns "link not found"
- Regenerate the group's link to invalidate everyone on it at once
Revocation is instant. To revoke one viewer without touching the rest, put them in their own group. See Permission & Security Settings.
Common Mistakes
- "Invite Viewer" vs "Invite Team". Viewer invites are free and unlimited. Team invites add paid admin seats. See Invite Your Team.
- Group email for multiple investors. You lose per-person analytics. Invite each individual.
- Assuming the invite always arrives. Corporate spam filters can silently reject. Ask the viewer to check spam or send the URL from your own email.
- Leaving access open after a deal closes. Set a link expiry or revoke manually.
